Chapter 3: Geology and crew Management
β’ Introduction to North America
Hello everyone! Today, we're going to learn about North America. It's a continent located almost entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere. You can think of it as the northern part of the larger landmass called the Americas.
β’ Geographic Location and Borders
Let's look at its location on a map. North America is surrounded by oceans. To the north is the Arctic Ocean, to the east is the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west and south is the Pacific Ocean. It also shares a border to the southeast with South America and the Caribbean Sea.
β’ Continent Size and Population
Now, let's talk about its size and population. North America is the third-largest continent in the world by area, right after Asia and Africa. When it comes to how many people live there, it's the fourth most populous continent, following Asia, Africa, and Europe.
β’ Countries and Their Details
We can also learn about the countries that make up North America. Each country has its own flag, capital city, currency, and official language. For example, Anguilla is an overseas territory, and its capital is The Valley. They use the East Caribbean Dollar, and English is spoken there. Another example is Aruba, where the capital is Oranjestad, they use the Aruban florin, and the official languages are Dutch and Papiamento.
